Danish designer Jørgen Ditzel exhibited his first furniture designs in Copenhagen while still a student at the Industrial Arts and Crafts College in Copenhagen. After completing his training as a furniture designer, he married in 1946 and established a design studio in partnership with his wife Nanna. Their most famous design product is the 1959 Hanging Egg chair. Their organic designs and innovative use of materials became popular in the 1950s, and their jewelry line won the gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1954 and the Lunning award in 1956. After her husband's death in 1961, Nanna Ditzel continued her successful career as a designer until her death in 2005.
