Emmanuel Gallina was born in 1972 in France. He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art in Limoges and the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design in Orléans. He then obtained a Master's degree in Design & Management at the Milan Polytechnic in Italy. After the seven-year collaboration with Antonio Citterio marking the beginning of his career, Gallina opened his own office and began working between Italy and France. Gallina is a designer, art director and marketing, communication and design identity consultant for various companies, boasting prestigious collaborations with such international brands as Poliform, Cartier, Panasonic, Accor, Porada, Ampm La Redoute, Burov, Ethimo, Toulemonde Bochart, Manade and Colé.
His design approach is distinguished by a continuous search for the essential and constant attention to construction details and natural and traditional materials. Particularly significant is his collaboration with Poliform, which produced the Grace leather chair, the Concorde table in round and rectangular versions, and numerous other products like the Mathieu desk, the Jane bench, armchair and small sofa, and the Sophie chair and stool. His fruitful collaboration with Porada gave light to the Venus armchair, the Romain sofa, the Lolita chair, the Maskara dressing table, the Antigone ash tables, the Loretta armchair, the Arena sofa and the Rimmel floor mirror. For Ethimo, he designed the Clostra partitions and the Shake and Milk lamps. With Manade, he developed a series of coat racks, desk lamps, acoustic panels, and partitions.
In 2011, he won the Wallpaper Design Award, London (Table Concorde for Poliform) and was a finalist in London's WAN Furniture Design Award (Outdoor Aikana Collection for Fast). In 2012, he won the Label VIA and Label Observeur du Design, Paris for New wave produced by Clen. In 2013, he was awarded the Orange Design Tour Award in Bordeaux with the Collection for AMPM and the Palmares Archidesignclub in Paris with the Tapparelle office for Colé. Other awards include the VIA Label in Paris with Harold Sofa for AMPM in 2015; the Wallpaper Design Award in London for Porada's Maskara dressing table in 2016; the Selection of FD100, French Design by VIA, Paris in 2019. Emmanuel Gallina has taught and continues to teach as a visiting professor at numerous universities and academies, including the Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin, the Politecnico and Domus Academy in Milan. He holds lectures, conferences and workshops all over the world. His work is published in the leading design magazines and books and on the most renowned global websites.
