Antoni de Moragas Spà is the son of the architect Antoni de Moragas Gallissà, one of the foremost promoters of Spain s post-war architectural renovation, and now a design classic. Moragas Spà studied at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts and graduated in 1972 from Barcelona s Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura (ETSAB). In 1985 he received his doctorate in Architecture with a thesis on "Antoni María Gallisà", in collaboration with Elías Rogent, Lluis Domenech i Muntaner and Josep María Jujol. In his early career as an architect, Antoni de Moragas i Spà worked at Ricardo Bofill s Taller de Arquitectura, at MBM Arquitectes with Oriol Bohigas, and at Gregottii Associati International in Milan. Later, he gradually shaped his public and private work to focus on the region of Catalonia. His projects include the Montjuïc municipal swimming pool in Barcelona (1992), the Sant Cugat del Vallès public library and the Blau building in Barcelona (2009). In the world of design, among his notable works is the Vague Stelle pendant lamp (1982), now edited by Santa & Cole.

Throughout his career, Antoni de Moragas i Spà has combined his work as an architect with teaching and with interior and furniture design. He has been a professor of Projects at ETSAB since 1972 (tenured since 1987) and of Interior Design Projects at EINA University School of Design and Art since 1977. He has also chaired ArquinFAD (FAD architects and interior designers) and has been a guest professor at the Schools of Architecture in Budapest, Buenos Aires and Rome. He has won several architecture and interior design awards, such as the Domènech Muntaner prize from the Institut d Estudis Catalans d Arquitectura (1986), the FAD Architecture Award (1987) and the Ciutat de Barcelona Architecture Prize (1990).
