Collection: Victor Vasilev
Born in Bulgaria and based in Milan where he opened an office in 2004, Victor Vasilev (Plovdiv, 1974) studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. A close relationship between architecture, interiors, and product design characterises Vasilev's work. He designs objects, spaces and buildings in an attempt to give shape to holistic environments pursuing formal and material purity. An exciting field of investigation for Victor Vasilev is sanitary ware. Kub is a washbasin designed in 2010 to explore the possibilities offered by two radically different materials - marble and glass; the crystal basin seems to "carve out" its place from the stone volume.
For Antrax, in addition to the minimalist interiors of the Milan store, he designed the Flaps electric radiator, a recyclable aluminium radiator with high thermal efficiency, whose rigorous formal lines are interrupted only by folds that act as towel rails. For Boffi, he designed the CTline columns - a modular system of vertical wall-mounted storage modules, inspired by the profiles of buildings in large cities and suitable for any domestic space, including the bathroom; the A45 family of countertop or wall-hung washbasins; and the DueC mobile washbasin, which combines the washing function with an open compartment. Again in the field of sanitary ware, Vasilev's collaboration with Falper produced the Eccentrico collection, washbasin cabinets, storage units, countertop and freestanding washbasins united by elementary geometric shapes, precious materials and extreme attention to detail. Ala is a universal, accessible and ergonomic washbasin with a clean surface that conceals its functional aspects. He also designed the Cilindro collection of stainless steel designer taps and Wave, a washbasin in Cristalpant and Carrara marble that contrasts squared external lines with a sinuous central slope. The latest collection, Minimum, is inspired by Donald Judd. Wall-mounted washbasins, freestanding shelves and storage units with pure volumes play with voids and proportions.
Vasilev also collaborates with furniture brands like Desalto, for whom he designed the stool with steel base and tubular steel structure Ike; Living Divani, for whom he designed the B2 and B3 coffee tables and the Buvka sculpture-bookcase; MDF Italia, with the Grafo modular sofa, the Mamba hanging shelf-desk and the Qubit bookcase; Natuzzi, with the Plissé open bookcase in wood and glass; and Potocco, with the Keel chair and armchair designed with Mario Ferrarini.
