Collection: Toan Nguyen
Toan Nguyen was born in 1969 in Paris, where he enrolled at ENSCI - Les Ateliers (École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle) in 1989; he graduated in 1998 after working for Alberto Lievore in Barcelona. He then moved to Milan and began working with Antonio Citterio for ten years, with whom he designed numerous collections for companies like Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flos, Iittala Kartell, Technogym and Vitra. In 2009 he opened an office in Via Farini in Milan, embarking on a series of successful collaborations with important industrial and high craft brands. He devotes himself to the production of furniture, lighting, ceramic objects and technological products.
For Toan Nguyen, design is a discipline that closely explores the relationship between object and user. His approach reconciles design with the needs of industrial production, with particular attention to communications. His projects focus on a logic of optimisation and useability and aesthetic and formal quality. Nguyen's work has been recognised by such prestigious design brands as Dedon, Fendi Casa, Laufen, Rolf Benz, Vibia, Wendelbo, Brown Jordan, Coalesse, District Eight, RH, Studio TK, Lema, Viccarbe and Walter Knoll. These collaborations have resulted in numerous international prizes and awards, including the Red Dot Award in 2010 and Interior Innovation in 2011 for the Bellows stool/table designed for Walter Knoll.
In 2011, the International Jury of the 22nd ADI Compasso d'Oro Award gave PALUS, designed with Antonio Citterio and produced by Metalco, an Honourable Mention Compasso d'Oro ADI. He received another Red Dot Award in 2012 for the Antero line of sanitary ware developed by Laufen. In 2014, he received the Best Furniture of Year Award from Elle Decoration Russia for the Cocoon sofa designed for Fendi Casa. In 2015, he won the Good Design Award with Infinito Lounge and Masalla by Studio TK. In 2016, he received the First Archiproducts Design Award for Algorithm, a lighting system produced by Vibia, winning the Design Best of Year Award in 2017. Again in 2017, the Dual Lounge, designed with Studio TK, won Interior Design's HiP Awards, the Interior Design Best of Year Award and the Good Design Award.
