Collection: Pedro Sottomayor
Pedro Sottomayor (born in 1973) founded his design office in Lisbon in 2009. Since then, his work has consisted of two main strands: new product development and creative direction for brands and companies. As creative director, Pedro Sottomayor seeks to find the often hidden potential of each specific industry to build competitive brands or develop new products. His in-depth knowledge of industrial processes has helped him to achieve great success in all areas of his work. For Sottomayor, every sector has potential that is waiting to be exploited and that can be used to create extraordinary products.
Originally from Porto, Pedro Sottomayor went to Italy to study industrial design and learn directly from the Italian masters, having as teachers Paolo Deganello, Denis Santachiara, Biagio Cisoti, Isao Hosoe, Andries Van Onck, Gilberto Correti, among others. His experience in Italy was fundamental in developing the principles that guide his approach to design: beauty, culture and design awareness, all channelled into efficient industrial production.
He has worked as an independent designer and product design consultant since 2009. He founded his own studio Pedro Sottomayor Design Industrial, developing projects for industrial products, crafts or cultural events for many clients, such as Frama, ZEITRAUM, Alessi, Sotheby's, Mor, Adico, Vava, Nautilus, etc. His work has been awarded and recognised internationally.
