Born in 1958 in Milan, Farinatti graduated in architecture in 1984 under professor Marco Zanuso when his department was called “Artistic Design for Industry.” He began his professional career during his studies by working as a freelancer for prestigious creative studios and ateliers in Milan from whom he gained a great deal of experience. In 1985, he founded the Triplano Associati studio for architectural and industrial design projects. In 1992 and 1994, he “created” his absolute greatest works: Federico and Luca. In 1997, he transferred his base of operations in Brianza, opening his studio in Merate. He has taught Industrial Design at International College, Camera della Moda, Scuola Politecnica di Design and Design in Town and Politecnico of Milano.
He is a member of ADI (Association for Industrial Design) since 1983, he is the Coordinator of Designers Department, he is vice-president of ADI Lombardy, he is the Coordinator of ADI Design Permanent Observatory of Lombardy for the selection of ADI Design Index and Compasso d’Oro, he is member of the board of Fondazione ADI collezione Compasso d’Oro. His way of working is characterized by his attention to people, the honesty of his design and a strong innovative bent.
Over time he has begun to specialise in wellness, and this has brought him to work with the biggest companies in the industry in order to create new types of products as well as new ways of living in the domestic environment. His ability to combine the vision of the present and the aspirations of the user with manufacturing realities and available technological resources makes for products that look to a better future.
The sensibility with which he takes on a project makes for objects and spaces that not only have a strong innovative sense but are destined to last over time. He has designed in Italy and abroad exhibits and events for ADI Design Index and Compasso d’Oro. In cooperation whith the Pubblic Adminisration, he has been the coordinator for many awards and events for young designers and small enterprises. His professionality has brought him to work with the biggest companies in the industry in order to create new types of products as well as new ways of living. He has won: ADI Design Index, Red Dot, IF, Japan Good Design Award, STIDA Prize.
