Collection: Lepper Schmidt Sommerlade
Design company Lepper, Schmidt, Sommerlade (LSS designer) was founded in Kassel in 1992, by Christian Lepper (born in Bad Honnef in 1958), Roland Schmidt (born in Peine in 1961) and Uwe Sommerlade (born in Calden in 1961). All three company founders trained as joiners and studied design at Kassel University. Christian Lepper also studied architecture. Christian Lepper died in January 2008. Since then, the design studio is run by Roland Schmidt and Uwe Sommerlade. The creative combination of formal and constructive competence becomes most evident in the design projects for renowned manufacturers producing furniture for the home and for large venues. Independent projects with architects, graphic and other visual artists are consciously intended to enter into an inspiring interaction with the design of items for serial production.
The quality of their work has brought them many design prizes, including: Innovation Prize Architecture and Office; Red Dot, Essen; iF Hanover; Honorary Product Design Prize, Design Center North Rhine-Westphalia.
