Collection: Johannes Steinbauer
Driven by his roots in craftsmanship, Johannes Steinbauer Office for Design is developing furniture that strive for an efficient, reduced, almost naive design language. Johannes Steinbauer grew up in the countryside, in a household of 4th-generation carpenters. Since he was tied by the fascination of craftsmanship, he followed his family tradition with a training as a cabinetmaker. At the age of 19 he worked for Tetrimäki Furniture Vision, a carpentry workshop in Finland. In the production of elaborate art nouveau furniture in small series, he learned to approach projects with great precision and patience. After working in his profession for several years and receiving his master certificate he went to study industrial design at Hochschule für Gestaltung in Schwäbisch-Gmünd.
From 2011 to 2012 he worked for Studio Neuland in Munich, on projects for international clients like Nils Holger Moorman, MDF-Italia, Kristalia, Bulthaup and Freifrau. In 2012 he founded his own studio, wich is located in an old workshop. Johannes Steinbauer is working with an intuitive approach, wich is still led by his fascination for craftsmanship. He always strives for an efficient, reduced, almost naive solution that directs to a strong characteristic design language. Johannes Steinbauer is working on furniture, accessories and lights for international clients like Authentics, Rolf Benz and Softline.
