Founded in 2003, In-es.artdesign creates, manufactures and markets indoor and outdoor designer lamps. After achieving international fame as a painter, the founder, Luciano Maria Mazzilli, aka Oçilunam, threw himself into this creative project combining art and design. After identifying its common feature in crafts artistry, he geared production towards lighting fixtures as objects that could best express the subjects of his art, like the moon and light. Combining art, crafts and design, the company boasts a catalogue of products with coherent and recognisable aesthetics animated by the same narrative thread. In-es.artdesign lamps combine function and technology with an artistic process based on the skilful use of chiaroscuro, pure colours and material contrasts. The selected material is Nebulite, a mix of resin and glass fibres that the designer uses alone or combined with other materials. Part of the collection is produced in limited editions. Each product is subjected to meticulous quality controls to ensure excellence. Numerous international awards and public and private projects have rewarded Mazzilli's bold endeavour with a far-from-predictable outcome.
In-es.artdesign interior lighting solutions
The In-es.artdesign catalogue for interior lighting includes numerous solutions, divided into 4 collections. The Matt collection has now become an icon, thanks to the mention received at the Interior Innovation Award 2014 for the Cyrcus Lavagna lamps and the Special Mention at the German Design Awards in 2016 for the entire Matt Lavagna range. The unique exterior finish in black or grey chalkboard-effect resin paint allows the lamp to be written on with coloured chalk to be personalised as desired. The inside is treated with varnish in 9 bright contrasting colours. The line includes 7 different suspension lamps, as well as table, floor and wall lamps. The collection also includes items with other finishes, like the Cyrcus Cemento and Flower Cemento floor lamps, treated with cement-effect paint and a coloured Nebulite interior. Then there are the Cyrcus Nebula Nebulite floor lamps and the Bin F Nebula, which can also be used as a pouffe. The collection is completed by table and wall lamps - Lavagna, Cemento and Nebula - in the three finishes. Another iconic collection is Luna, in Nebulite and polycarbonate, inspired by the moon. In addition to lamps with coloured finishes, like the Mezza Luna pendant lamp or the bottle-shaped Luce Liquida 1 table lamp, the collection includes white spherical luminaires, which reveal a unique surface that evokes a celestial body when lit. The selection is wide and varied - from the single Luna pendant lamp to the striking group pendants like Sei Lune or Tre Lune, from the Floor moon and Floormoon 1 Liberty floor lamps to the table and wall versions. A distinctly pop-inspired, ironic and playful feel characterises the Be.Pop collection. The Cacio & Pepe line, with its grater-shaped lampshade, is perhaps the most emblematic. Available as a pendant, table or wall lamp, the lampshade is available in 2 decorative variations and 6 colours, which can be combined with the 9 cable finishes.
In-es.artdesign's outdoor lighting collections
The outdoor lamps from the Luna Out collection, used in B&B Italia's installation in the Chiostri dell'Umanitaria, caused quite a stir at the 2018 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Winner of the prestigious Design Plus Award Light + Building, Luna Out is based on the indoor collection with the same materials and shapes, bringing dreamy and romantic atmospheres outside.
The line is available in a variety of models, offering suitable solutions for every context and need. Particularly striking is the Ex.Moon floor lamp, available in 4 sizes. It can be combined with the Luna Out outdoor pendant lamp and the A.Moon Out outdoor wall lamp for illuminating porticos or boundary walls. The outdoor lighting catalogue includes another indoor product adapted for outdoor use, the Bin F Nebula Out floor lamp-pouffe. The Tank outdoor floor lamp collection adds striking notes of colour to outdoor spaces. Fabricated in Laprene and Nebulite in the allusive shape of a bottle, it is available in 6 different colours and two different sizes: a slimmer one, 142 cm high, and a more rounded one, 92 cm high. The Button Out line of outdoor wall lamps, with its simple button shape, is available in 7 different colours. The Battery collection, presented for the first time at Euroluce 2019, includes cordless and rechargeable battery versions of some of the catalogue models, like Button T Battery, Luna Take Away, with an emblematic steel handle; the miniature moon T.Moon; and bottle-shaped Luce Liquida. The absolute novelty in the Battery collection is the outdoor Candle 1 Battery table lamp in polycarbonate and Laprene, in the shape of a candle. It is characterised by an original handle composed of a plastic cable attached to the fixture by a nautical knot.
