Collection: Elisa Ossino
Architect and designer Elisa Ossino was born in Lentini, Sicily. She obtained her degree in architecture (specialising in Industrial and Furniture Design) at Politecnico di Milano. After a period of collaboration with CEDAR (Centro di Documentazione dell'Architettura), she opened her office (2005) to work on the conception, design and execution of projects for interiors, exhibitions, installations, products, furniture, editorial services and styling. Since 2016, she has taught in the "Interactive Media for Interior Design" Master's programme at IUAV in Venice. Her design research is characterised by a multifaceted and rigorous approach that finds its stylistic expression in geometric abstraction, monochromatic tones and references to metaphysical and surrealist art.
Ossino has developed numerous collections of furniture, objects and sculptures for Salvatori, including Balnea – marble bathroom furnishings consisting of shower trays, freestanding washbasins, bathtubs, and countertop and wall-mounted washbasins; Urano marble lamps; the Proiezioni table family; Tratti and Plissè natural stone wall coverings; and Fontane Bianche accessories.
She has collaborated with other renowned design brands. For De Padova, she designed the Imera double bed with an upholstered headboard, the Irea line of tables, bed, sofa, dormeuse and footstool in leather, and Nota wall lamps, Elementi hanging lamps and Cilindri table lamps. For Porro, she created a series of handmade fabric and wool rugs in various shapes, patterns and colours. Metaphysical references characterise the Arcade wallpapers produced for Texturae and the geometries of the wallpapers designed for File Under Pop.
In 2004, with a group of friends and her sister Raffaella, Ossino created Nume. The brand focuses on objects and furnishings for children, organising exhibits, workshops and installations in spaces like the Rossana Orlandi gallery, the Rotonda della Besana in Milan and Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
With Stefania Vasques and Alberto Zordan, she founded Officina Temporanea in Milan (2010). The collective project explores contemporary languages where art, design, music and video can come together to generate social initiatives. In 2019, she created H+O with Josephine Akvama Hoffmeyer; the brand is dedicated to surface design and the investigation of the new frontiers of interior design and contemporary lifestyles. That same year, she opened the Apartment Gallery in Milan's Brera district.
Ossino has received numerous awards. In 2016, her projects appeared in the "W-Woman in Italian Design" exhibition during the ninth edition of the Triennale Design Museum. In 2019 and 2020, she was included among the AD "Top 100 Interior Designers of the year". In 2020, she received the EDIDA Elle Deco International Awards. In 2018, she reimagined the facade and interiors of the Archiproducts Milan headquarters for Milan Design Week.
