Brothers Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, born in 1962 and 1967, respectively, studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. In 1992 in Busto Garolfo, with engineer Ivano Battiston, they founded BURATTI+BATTISTON ARCHITECTS, active until 2010, when Battiston had to leave due to illness. The current Studio Buratti Architetti is engaged in projects on different scales, from urban planning to interior design, temporary installations and product design. Always pursuing technological experimentation, the Buratti brothers have authored architectural and design projects with a contemporary feel and refined aesthetics. They design residential, commercial and industrial buildings, projects in historical centres, renovations of building complexes, and interiors of offices, homes, shops and showrooms in Italy and abroad. For the brothers, design is thinking about the essentials, elegance and quality. "Modernity is not a style. It is not an epoch. It is a way of being present in our time." This is how the two brothers present their collections for Alias, a brand with which they produced the Hiwood and Saen indoor and outdoor table collections.
Their main collaborations and productions include interior design projects for La Perla and La Perla Uomo, for which they developed the image of the boutiques all over the world; the design of the Tre Marie Caffè in Milan (2001); the new concept for the presentation of breakfast products (2003) for Barilla; the addition to the Confindustria headquarters in Bergamo (2004); the design of the coordinated image for the A. Shops of Acerbis Italia and many of their layouts (since 2001); the Concept Stores for the new line of accessories and clothing for Automobili Lamborghini (2007) and the design for the renovation of the Museum of the famous car manufacturer in Sant'Agata Bolognese (2009); the design of garage doors, interiors and entrances for Silverlox_Domina and later the design of their booth and showroom in Milan (2009); the design of the new Concept Store (2008) and, later, the the Husqvarna showroom and museum in the new Cassinetta (Varese) site for Husqvarna Motorcycles (BMW Group); in 2009, the innovative W+W sanitary fixture for Roca, which combines a washbasin and toilet in a single piece, exploiting the system devised in collaboration with Roca Innovation Lab to save water by meeting the ever-increasing demand for sustainability, and for which they received numerous awards (Wallpaper Design Award 2010, Design+Plus Award 2009, Best_Ed Award 2010, FX Design Award 2009, KBB - Product Innovation Award 2009).
