Robert Haussmann attended the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich and the Kunstnijverheischool (now the Rietveld Academie) in Amsterdam as a student of Rietveld and the Bauhausler Johan Niegemann. 1951 Diploma as an interior designer in Zurich. After that, together with his brother, he ran the furniture store that he had taken over from his father. In 1967 Robert Haussmann married the architect Trix Högl and together they founded a design office that dealt with building, design and industrial design.
