컬렉션: 프란시스코 고메스 파즈 (Francisco Gomez Paz)

Francisco Gomez Paz was born in Salta, Argentina in 1975. After obtaining his degree in Industrial Design from the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba, he moved to Milan, where he got a Master's degree in Design from Domus Academy (1999). Since 2000, he has worked with Domus Academy in research and teaching, serving as Design Manager of Domus Design Lab in 2005. After working for several years with the engineer Alberto Meda and architect Paolo Rizzatto, he opened an office in Milan in 2003, beginning his intense activity as a designer alongside prestigious international design companies.

Francisco Gomez Paz's design approach is highly experimental, marked by total freedom and profound curiosity. His work is based on careful and constant technical and aesthetic research into materials, giving rise to innovative future-oriented projects - surprising in terms of technology and form. The series of lamps created with Luceplan perfectly exemplifies his point of view. Hope (2009), which won the Compasso d'Oro, is a suspension lamp designed with Paolo Rizzatto that reinterprets the traditional crown chandelier with drop-shaped crystals. He also created Illusion (2013), a wall and ceiling lamp; Tango (2014), a floor lamp with indirect light; Mesh (2015), a LED ceiling lamp with a powerful visual presence; Bulbullia (2018), a LED wall lamp in aluminium and polycarbonate, with a discreet and abstract form.

In 2014, he opened an office in his home town in Argentina; it is conceived as a workshop where he can create sustainable products for his brand, Gomez Paz Design & Crafted. Eutopia, an extremely resistant and sustainable lightweight chair without nails, won the 2020 ADI Compasso d'Oro Award; it is now in the Vitra Design Museum collection. Gomez Paz has won numerous international prizes and awards. In 2016, he received the "Best of the Best" Red Dot Award for the Mesh lamp by Luceplan. In 2008, he and Alberto Meda won the first prize in the Index Award for the Solar Bottle, a container designed for communities without drinking water that disinfects water with a solar energy system. It was presented in the Design and Elastic Mind exhibition at MOMA in New York and later became part of the museum collection. He received the Award for Innovation in Design from the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, for the Hope chandelier.
