François Bauchet, designer born 1948 at Montluçon (France). He trained at the school of Fine arts in Bourges. Since 1982, he teaches at the school of Fine arts in Saint-Etienne. In 1983, his maiden project, elaborated with the help of VIA and named « C’est aussi une chaise », was presented at the Salon des artistes décorateurs (SAD). From 1984 to 1998, he collaborated with Galerie Neotu. In 1987, he designed the offices of the Fondation Cartier at Jouy-en-Josas near Paris and took part in Documenta 8 at Kassel. Other projects followed: show windows and reception furniture for the Art Centre at Vassivière-en-Limousin, the reception area of the museum of Art & Industry in Saint-Etienne, the exhibition fit-out and café furniture for the Jeu de Paume in Paris, furniture, footbridge and folly for the grounds of the château d’Azay-le-Rideau… In the year 2000, the musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris staged a solo exhibition around his work. In 2001 and again in 2003, Galerie Kreo also gave him solo exhibitions. In 2002 he won the ‘Creator of the year’ award at the Paris furniture fair. His pieces and objects are currently under production with Galerie Kreo, Cinna, Ligne Roset, Ercuis, Haviland, GHM…
He also has pieces in various standing collections: the FNAC and the musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, and the Design museum in Lisbon…
